Fermzilla 27L and 55L Tri-Conical Gen 3.2 | Pressure Fermenter at a Bargain Price

The FermZilla Starter Kit 27L/55L Tri-Conical Gen 3.2 by KegLand offers homebrewers a high-quality and affordable pressure tank with exceptionally easy handling. Thanks to the practical Tri-Clamp system at the conical end, assembling and disassembling the FermZilla Tri-Conical Gen 3.2 is particularly straightforward. For better usability, the new FermZilla Tri-Conical is equipped with convenient Tri-Clamp connections both before and after the butterfly valve. In no time, the FermZilla fermenter can be disassembled thanks to the 3" clamp before and after the butterfly valve. This makes cleaning and maintenance of the FermZilla Tri-Conical Gen 3.2 extremely easy.

The FermZilla Tri-Conical allows you to ferment beer, harvest yeast, remove trub, and—when equipped with the optional pressure kit—ferment under pressure (up to 2.4 bar or 35 psi) and even dispense directly from the fermenter. When used with the pressure kit, the FermZilla transforms into a true unitank, enabling pressure fermentation while simultaneously carbonating your beer.

Without ever transferring your beer, you can dispense directly from the FermZilla if you have a cooling option for the tank. All you need is a tap and a CO₂ source. Alternatively, the finished beer can be transferred into stainless steel kegs (KEGs) using a closed-transfer method, preventing oxygen exposure.

Important Notes:

  • Before first-time pressurized use, we recommend a pressure test with water at 1 bar to ensure a proper seal.
  • The FermZilla is not designed for direct bottle filling and does not have a tap. However, counter-pressure bottling (e.g., with an iTap) is possible. Alternatively, a beer siphon can be used from the top.
  • Warning: Always read the user manual before use! Mishandling or improper use will void any claims for defects.
  • Liquids inside the FermZilla must never exceed 50°C. When fermenting under pressure at 35°C or higher, do not exceed 0.4 bar.
  • Protect the FermZilla from direct sunlight. When using it under pressure, a pressure test should be performed every two years.
  • The tank has a printed date indicating the validity of its pressure certification (not an expiration date). After this date, a new pressure test should be conducted following the instructions (recommended method 3b).
  • Minor dents or deformations may occur during shipping or handling but do not affect the integrity of the tank. The FermZilla is designed to tolerate slight deformations, which may also occur due to vacuum pressure during cold crashing. When pressurized again, these deformations will mostly disappear.

Technical Data:

  • Maximum working pressure: 2.4 bar (35 psi)
  • Temperature range: 0–50°C
  • Material: PET (fermenter), stainless steel (fittings)
  • Optional steel or plastic pressure kit
    • Pressurise the vessel up to 35psi
    • Allows pressure transfer to kegs
    • Reduces ester production during brewing
    • Allows fermentation at higher temperature in some cases
    • Floating dip tube means beer is taken from the clear top of the brew leaving behind sediment
    • Recommend using hop filter  attached to floating dip tube
    • Using a spunding valve (adjustable relief valve) allows the CO2 produced during fermentation to be used to carbonate the brew.
    • See the Fermzilla Jacket  to be completely light tight, which protects from harmful UV lights and prevents light stuck beer.

The standard lid has a simple air lock that allows CO2 to escape during brewing but no air to get in.

The airlock can be replaced with plastic or steel posts with valves and a floating dip tube.

These are the same connection as most home brew kegs and allow the benefits listed above.

The black ports on the collection bottle can also have these posts installed allowing easy connection of gas etc.

Impressive Result

I must say that I am positively surprised by Fermzilla with Pressure Kit. The assembly was quick and easy, as it only needed to be completed. After the obligatory cleaning, the wort was poured directly into the kit and the yeast was added. After the obligatory cleaning, the wort was poured directly into the kit and the yeast was added. The fermentation was very active, but without anything overflowing or leaking. Everything remained tight! After one week, the wine was bottled, which also went off without any problems. With the help of the pressure set this could be done without much contact with oxygen. It was also great that the beer could be bottled without much lees and yeast. With the help of the yeast container I could even harvest the yeast and will use it again. At the end of the day I had to clean it, which was very easy because of the handling and the big opening. Because the container is transparent, you can easily see where you still have to clean. All in all I can only give positive feedback (until now). If the next fermentations will be like this I will surely buy at least one more Fermzilla.
