Fermzilla 27L and 55L Tri-Conical Gen 3.2

13 reviews

The FermZilla Tri-Conical Starter Kit Gen 3.2 Easy-Grip from KegLand is a pressure-rated conical fermenter for controlled fermentation, pressure fermentation, yeast harvesting and closed transfers. Depending on the selected size, the FermZilla is suitable either for standard homebrew batches or for larger double-batch fermentations.

The FermZilla Tri-Conical Starter Kit Gen 3.2 Easy-Grip is available in different sizes. The 27L version is suitable for fermenting up to 23 litres of wort with sufficient headspace, while the 55L version is designed for larger batches and double-batch fermentation. Please select the required size from the dropdown menu before ordering.

With the FermZilla Tri-Conical Gen 3.2, the essential pressure fermentation hardware is already included. The supplied pressure kit with floating dip tube, carbonation caps and the integrated BlowTie spunding valve with gauge make the fermenter ready for pressure fermentation straight out of the box. No additional pressure kit or separate spunding valve is required to start fermenting under pressure. The 3” Tri-Clamp cone allows the fermenter to be taken apart quickly for cleaning, sanitising and yeast handling. The 3” butterfly valve and 600 ml Tri-Clamp collection container make it possible to separate trub, harvest yeast and manage fermentation sediment without transferring the beer. The transparent tank also allows visual control of fermentation activity and sediment formation.

Depending on the selected size, the FermZilla can be used for standard fermentation, pressure fermentation, natural carbonation during fermentation, yeast harvesting, trub separation and closed transfer into kegs. If you have a CO₂ source and a tap, the finished beer can also be dispensed directly from the fermenter, provided the vessel can be kept cold. For oxygen-sensitive beers such as IPA, NEIPA or hop-forward pale ales, the FermZilla system can be expanded with suitable accessories.

Hop Bong Kit allows oxygen-free dry hopping, while a transfer line kit enables closed pressure transfer into stainless steel kegs. If you are using temperature-controlled fermentation, the FermZilla Twister cooling coil combined with the FermZilla thermowell allows you to connect a cooling unit (e.g. Icemaster G20) to the FermZilla. The FermZilla 27L also includes a 600 ml collection container for harvesting yeast You can read more about the advantages of pressure fermentation and what to consider in our blog on pressure fermentation.

Important Notes
Read the instruction manual before first use. Improper handling may void warranty claims. Liquids must never exceed 50°C. When using the FermZilla under pressure, regular water pressure testing according to the instructions must be carried out. Before first use under pressure, perform a pressure test with water. Fill the FermZilla with water, apply at least 15 psi pressure and check all caps, threads, seals and Tri-Clamp connections for leaks. This pressure check should be repeated before each pressure fermentation. The FermZilla is designed as a fermentation and pressure transfer vessel. It does not include a tap and is not designed for direct bottle filling without additional equipment. Bottling is possible with suitable counter-pressure filling systems such as iTap. Alternatively, beer can be transferred from the top using a siphon. A CO₂ source is recommended for closed transfers, keg filling, can filling or direct dispensing from the fermenter.

Impressive Result

I must say that I am positively surprised by Fermzilla with Pressure Kit. The assembly was quick and easy, as it only needed to be completed. After the obligatory cleaning, the wort was poured directly into the kit and the yeast was added. After the obligatory cleaning, the wort was poured directly into the kit and the yeast was added. The fermentation was very active, but without anything overflowing or leaking. Everything remained tight! After one week, the wine was bottled, which also went off without any problems. With the help of the pressure set this could be done without much contact with oxygen. It was also great that the beer could be bottled without much lees and yeast. With the help of the yeast container I could even harvest the yeast and will use it again. At the end of the day I had to clean it, which was very easy because of the handling and the big opening. Because the container is transparent, you can easily see where you still have to clean. All in all I can only give positive feedback (until now). If the next fermentations will be like this I will surely buy at least one more Fermzilla.
